Doctors won’t address my sma

So, I was reading my mri report and it says I have mild to moderate paraspinal musculature atrophy. You can clearly see atrophy in my right arm. After bringing it up with my doctor, she dismisses it like it’s nothing. Is this something that adults just get as we get older.

  1. Hi there. I'm so sorry to hear that your doctor is not listening to you and the concerns you have about your MRI. This kind of treatment is not fair and leaves us feeling really upset and neglected. Do you have a primary care physician or a specialist on your SMA care team? If you haven't done so already, I would reach out to another doctor with a copy of your MRI for a second opinion. I'll also tag another some of our other moderators here to provide any insight on this - and . I hope you're able to find some answers. Thank you for being a part of this community and starting this thread. We're here to listen and help as best we can. Sincerely, Abby (Team Member).

    1. Really sorry to hear you're going through this. I know it can be frustrating and stressful. Like Abby said, you have every right to get a copy of your reports and seek a second opinion. That might be your best option. Let us know if we can help in any other way. Chaz, Team Member
