My favorite specialist has to be my neurosurgeon, Dr. Vanderhaven, who performed my full spinal fusion when I was ten. My back had a 90-degree curve, and she managed to bring it down to 50 degrees—a life-changing improvement. Dr. Vanderhaven was not only incredibly skilled but also kind and compassionate. She always made me feel safe and cared for while also meaning business when it came to my health.
