Tips on Speaking Up!

How do you speak up for yourself? Do you rely on others to help you?

Share some tips for others living with SMA on how they can speak up for themselves, even if finding the voice and words is difficult.

  1. Abby! I'm so happy that you started this thread as I just published a post on this called Courage! I still struggle with people pleasing but am getting so much better at listening to my own voice by doing what I need to for my mental health, I'm important too! I was constantly worried that no one would be able to hear me, but have gained confidence with the help of my mama and my speech therapist! My speech therapist and I have worked on different exercises to help try to strengthen my voice and I try to remember these when on the phone or in public. To anyone reading, please remember that your voice matters! There's so many things you can do to improve your confidence and your speech. I'm definitely not where I would like to be, but I keep pushing myself to speak up for positive mental health's sake.
